Yes, you can buy home here. But according to my experience, this is not a good idea considering current situation. Since Trump came in power, H1b visa transfer and extension have become very difficult. Everybody feels insecure.
Q2. I have H1B Visa, can my wife work in USA?
No, your wife can not work if your visa status is h1b. For your wife to work in USA, you need to get i140 approved. Once you get i140 approved. You can apply EAD for your wife. After EAD approval only, your wife can work.

Yes, you can settle in the United States. Once you come in the United States on h1b. Work here for sometime and then apply for GC.

No, You can not start your own business. You need to have GC approved.

If you have h1b visa then you can apply H4 dependent visa for your child. Your child can not settle in the United States based on your h1b visa. But he can get education as every child in the United States.
