Cost Of Living In USA For Indian Family
It is tough to generalize cost of living in the united states. US is a big country so, it lot depends upon the place you live in. It also depends a lot on your lifestyle and your standards of living and what you spend and therefore what you can save.
For example, if you stay in New York. According to some data, estimated monthly expenses for a single person is around 1,100$ and for four person family is around 4,100. This does not include house rent. Average 1bhk rent around New York is almost 2,000$.
Medical bills and insurances are again depend upon family size. If you don’t have good insurance, you may have to spend your whole life saving to pay medical bills. I have my own experience, I did not have high end insurance and i had to pay $713 just for stomach ultra sound which you could have done in India for less than Rs700.
Lets calculate expenses for a family of four in different part of USA with moderate lifestyle.

San Diego:

Cost of one time Outside lunch = $60
Average Car insurance $100
Total average cost of life in Bay Area = $3800 approx.
New Jersey:
Average house rent for 2BHK = $1600.
Average Cost of groceries = $350
Utilities bill = $100
Cost of one time Outside lunch = $50
Average Car insurance $100
Total average cost of life in New Jersey Area = $2300 approx.
New York:
